Vita: Bärbel Diekmann

Bärbel Dieckmann was Lord Mayor of Bonn from 1994 to 2009 and a member of the federal executive committee and the party presidium of the SPD from 2001 to 2009. In November 2008, the Leverkusen native was elected President of Welthungerhilfe and held the post for ten years. She studied philosophy, history and social sciences in Bonn, is a member of the German United Nations Association and on the Board of Trustees of the German Sustainability Award Foundation. She has been a member of the voluntary board of C2C NGO since the end of 2019.

Vita: Nora Sophie Griefahn

Nora Sophie Griefahn is co-founder and executive director of Cradle to Cradle NGO. For more than ten years, the environmental scientist has been a sought-after expert on C2C, the sustainable use of finite resources and the need for materially healthy and recyclable products. With C2C NGO, she promotes a rethinking in science, politics, education and society that aims for more than just climate neutrality. Griefahn also holds teaching positions at various German universities.

Vita: Andreas Grotekemper

Andreas Grotekemper has been an Associate Partner at Eggers & Partner Management Development since 2020. After his studies in Social Sciences and Management & Entrepreneurship, he worked for two years as a Senior Consultant at CPC Unternehmensmanagement in Frankfurt. From 2016 to 2020, he worked as Manager People & Organization at the transformation consultancy The Company Journey Guides in Munich. Since 2017, he has been a university lecturer at Leibniz University in Hannover. He has been a member of the voluntary board of C2C NGO since 2019.

Vita: Tim Janßen

Tim Janßen is co-founder and executive director of Cradle to Cradle NGO. With C2C NGO, he has been driving the anchoring of the Cradle to Cradle school of thought and design concept in business and politics since 2012 and implements C2C lighthouse projects such as the C2C LAB in Berlin. He has been a sought-after expert on C2C innovation, circular business models, and green entrepreneurship for about 10 years and speaks about it at events, as a guest commentator and interlocutor in print media and digital formats, and with policy makers. Janßen also teaches at various German universities.

Vita: Jürgen Schmidt

Jürgen Schmidt began his career selling “environmental protection paper” in the schoolyard. Over the years, this became memo AG, a mail order company for sustainable products that operates throughout Europe. In 2007, he was named “Eco-Manager of the Year” for his commitment and received the Bavarian State Medal for Services to the Environment and Health as well as the German Environmental Award. In 2012, he took leave from his operational functions at memo AG to promote sustainable projects. He has been on the supervisory board of memo AG since 2019 and established the memo Foundation in the same year. He has been a member of the voluntary board of C2C NGO since 2019.

Design concept (C2C Design concept)

Humans need to rethink and redesign to solve our climate and resource problem in the long run. The C2C design concept is the guide for this. It is modeled after natural cycles in which any waste is a nutrient for something new. Cradle to Cradle takes into account all ecological, economic and social aspects of products as early as the design phase. Only recyclable materials that are suitable for the specific purpose of a product are used.
